Volunteering means sharing your time, talents and positive energy to help adults who are working hard to improve their lives. If you’re the kind of person who likes knowing you’re making a profound impact for good, we’d love to get you involved. This work can be incredibly rewarding – and the rewards are immediate and heartfelt.

Join the more than 300 Nashville-area volunteers who make this incredible work possible. You can volunteer as an individual, family or group.

INDIVIDUAL ONGOING VOLUNTEER ROLES

Teachers

Instruct small groups of adult students using our established curriculum. Choose the subject you feel most comfortable with or let us suggest one.

  • Science

  • Social Studies

  • English for Internationals

  • Computer and Job Skills

Tutors

Work with students either individually or in small groups to help them prepare to pass their High School Equivalency (HSE) test. We provide the curriculum and all instruction materials.

Mentors

Meet with students either in person or by phone to provide listening, encouragement and support. We typically ask you to commit to a weekly hour-long session with each student over a one-year period.

Greeters/Administrative

This role is great for someone who thrives on variety and likes getting things done.

  • Welcome students, volunteers and guests to the campus

  • Assist in placing students in the correct classes

  • Help with receptionist, organizational and/or clerical needs

Children’s Programming

Child care and educational programming play an essential role in the work we do. Providing safe, positive supervision for children allows parents to get as much as possible out of their own learning while attending our adult classes. Children’s programing includes the following valuable service for infants – 5th grade.

  • Bible Stories

Prayer Partners

As a faith-based organization, we’re deeply committed to offering spiritual encouragement to all who seek it. For continuity of support, we ask for a 6-month commitment from each volunteer.

  • Meet a student in person at a Begin Anew campus

  • Pray for each student daily

  • Call or text weekly to share scripture
